Saaz Collective is a social initiative that was launched in April 2026 to bridge the gap and ensure equal music training to learners from challenged economic backgrounds. The project’s aim is at a blend of art education, community engagement and emotional welfare to suggest that music is a meaningful part of every student's learning experience.
The initiative began with an exploration of why music matters and its role in a child’s cognitive development. In order to transform this research into accessible opportunities, an episodic podcast series will be released that will focus around real stories of how music has become a chord of confidence among individuals. The Charcha will be designed in a way where educators, social workers and community case studies all come together to uplift the idea of accessibility in terms of art and culture.
In order to redefine these insights into hands-on learning, we will also bring out a five-module activity book introducing fundamental music concepts like rhythm, melody, pitch, scales, and simple composition with step-by-step, self-guided exercises. This would be created for beginners where each module will help students engage with music without formal instruments and encourage them to create their own short compositions. We also plan to create structured workshops with students by installing rhythm games, vocal exercises, scale drills, and group compositions, which would further aid the inculcation of the theory.
Consistency is important in all sorts of practices and therefore we eventually target to mobilize community support through a fundraising campaign, the funds from which will help us to build a dedicated music room with the project’s NGO partner, and equip it with basic instruments, storage, and learning materials. The nature of music has always been therapeutic, therefore the project also intends to offer curated sessions with a trained music therapist for the target students to reflect on their own ways of self-expression and process their varied emotions.
Together, these interventions form a holistic space that will enable the students not only to learn music, but to use it to express themselves, connect with others, and explore their cultural identities with confidence.
